What Internet Browser Do You Use?

“What? You mean there are other options besides Internet Explorer?”

Yes… for you pc-only users there are plenty of other browsers available that I think are faster, provide better security, and are rich with useful features. Don’t feel limited to only using that “blue e icon” that’s located on your desktop. Read up on some of the other popular browsers and find the one that works for you.

Note: I won’t be going into much technical detail, but I’ll provide a brief  description of each one so you know what’s out there.

1) Firefox – My preferred browser

It’s quick, secure, and has all of the features I could want. As a designer, I not only use this browser for all internet-related business, but to also support my graphic and code applications. With over 6000 add-ons available, you’ll be able to customize it to your heart’s content. FireFox

2) Google Chrome

For all of you Google fanatics who use, live and swear by Google products, this browser is for you. It’s fast and efficient. Although this isn’t my browser of choice, it is definitely a close second. One notable feature is how the tabbed browsing works. Each tab runs independently, so if one were to crash it would not have an effect on any of your other open tabs. Google Chrome

3) Safari

Mac users already use this browser by default, but PC users can also download a Windows-compatible version. It doesn’t carry around some of the same security features like anti-phising or parental controls, but it is lightweight and unobtrusive.

If you’re more for browsing and don’t have a need for much customization, go for this one. Safari

4) Opera

I don’t have much experience using this browser (although I have downloaded it to my laptop), but it boasts features like voice commands where you can navigate the web with your voice or have the browser read text to you. Opera

5) Internet Explorer 8

If you must continue to use Internet Explorer, I highly recommend upgrading to Internet Explorer 8 if you haven’t already. To check which browser version you are running, click on the ‘help’ option on the browser toolbar and then click on ‘About internet explorer’.

IE 8 has better security than its predecessors, faster loading times, and more customizable features. Internet Explorer 8
