Who is Chris?

I’m a tech geek, freelance graphic designer, and also a part-time instructor. When I’m not working with clients on identity, print, or web design, I’m usually browsing the web reading blogs and checking out social networks, playing video games, watching movies, reading a book, hanging out with my pet puggle and cat (JJ and Oscar), biking, playing in one of my sports leagues (football, volleyball, and dodgeball… yes dodgeball), or spending time with family and friends.

Where

Chicago skylineRainbow Falls HawaiiI’m a born and raised Chicagoan and lived here for 25+ years. I did, however, have the pleasure of living in Hilo, HI in 2001.

Why’d I come back?!?

I’d like to say that the school system down there provided me with an amazing education, but let’s be honest… it was difficult to remain focused. It ended up being more like a long vacation with the occasional class. However, the experience is one I will never forget.

video games + movies + tech gear = my circle of life

I’ve been pretty big into all of these things since I was first introduced to an Atari, Laser Discs, and Tiger Handhelds. Now, it’s all about my Xbox 360, PS3, and Blu-Ray Player.

Work History

I’ve been in the workplace since I was 15, holding various titles in the retail world (clothing retailer to cellular phones to video game retailer), and was able to work my way up to store management at the age of 22. Soon after, I joined the corporate world and entered my first office setting with a travel management company in 2004. For 3+ years I was able to utilize and enhance my marketing, sales, and team management skills. I sold travel services, traveled to various cities to provide on-site support, trained new hires, assisted with management of a transportation system created for those affected by Hurricane Katrina (San Antonio and New Orleans), and even developed the company’s circle of excellence program. Having to wear many hats, I also created multiple marketing presentations for use in sales meetings and trade show displays. This is when I realized my calling and began to teach myself how to use various design applications.

In 2007, I joined a small consulting firm as a design project manager, managing numerous design projects involving identity, website, e-commerce, UI designs, and complete branding projects.

In November 2008, I branched out on my own and started Tek-uniQue Graphics. I have been providing graphic design services and basic computer workshops for small businesses around the Chicago area since.

Check out my portfolio to view a selection of recent works or give me a shout if you’d like to hire me for a design project. Even if you just want to shoot the proverbial sh*t, that’s cool too =).
